Color on laptop is distorted after installing old computer game?....?

I installed the game Age of Empires II and The Conquerors expansion onto my laptop. My brother helped and then he did some other stuff like he turned explorer off and then after we played we'd turn it back on. Well, ever since we installed the game, I've been having pop-up ads, which doesn't make sense because my firewalls are still up and in tact, and my internet page (Firefox) is completely washed out. I've tried turning off explorer and turning it back on, rebooting my computer, uninstalling the game, etc. but nothing has been working. Does anyone have any ideas whats going on?? If so, I would GREATLY appreciate any feedback that could be useful. Thank you!!
