Old GBA gameshark help?

I started playing my old GBA and my gameshark isnt working anymore. I tried cleaning it with alcahol and it still doesnt work. Resetting it isnt working either, and when you start it up the background is distorted out a little bit, then I move on to the select game screen and when i select the game the gameshark freezes. Any ideas on what to do? Thanks
