Did some books about CommonWealth of Nations.?

I homeschooling my son next year. For History he going to learn about the Common wealth of nations. I need some books about it, not so much the history about it, but life in it. Like if it were about Europe I might get the Diary of Anne Frank, or if it was America I might get Frederick Douglass, To Kill a Mocking Bird or Little House on the Prairie. The only book I can think of for is Ture History of the Kelly Gang, but Im not sure how good it will be. Any suggestions? Thanks.
