What do you think of using nicknames as the full name?

I wouldn't do it because it doesn't give the person an option for professional situations. Imagine a lawyer with the name Freddie. Everyone will assume it's a nickname and it will look unprofessional. If you prefer the nickname, but use the full name for the birth certificate and call the child be the nickname. Then when he is older he can choose which one he prefers.
